Fee Rates and Policies

Hourly Rate Billing, Flat Fee Billing and Disbursements

Hourly:

Certain legal work (by its nature) is billed hourly at the current hourly rate for legal services provided by JarvisLegal.

Flat Fee Billing:

For some matters such as corporate work and conveyancing, flat fee billing (pre-determined set fees) applies, or alternative fee arrangements may be suitable. We are happy to work with you to come up with a fee and billing solution to suit your needs or your organization’s needs.

Disbursements:

Disbursements, for costs such as couriers/bank charges  are charged on a cost-recovery basis. We do not charge admin fees, nor for printing, copying or other overhead.

Retainer / Payment of Retainer

In all new matters, JarvisLegal requires a retainer to be paid at the outset of opening a file. The retainer amount required may be the entire estimated total fees to be charged, or it may be only a portion of estimated fees. Prior to commencing legal work for you, we will provide you with more information on the required retainer amount and payment(s) of the retainer. The retainer is paid into trust and held by JarvisLegal for your account, and unless otherwise agreed to, the retainer is applied towards invoiced amounts for legal services provided.

Invoice/Account Payments

At this time, payment of an invoice or towards an account may be made by cheque to: “JarvisLegal Law Corporation” or by e-transfer.
